Become an intern at WomEng
Join a dynamic international organisation as a volunteer intern
WomEng (Women in Engineering), previously known as SAWomEng, is a dynamic nonprofit organisation based in South Africa. Since 2006, the organisation has been at the forefront of tackling issues regarding gender gaps in the engineering sector.
WomEng operates in South Africa and Kenya and will be expanding its reach to other countries.
WomEng has created a targeted set of interventions to attract, develop and nurture the next generation of women engineering leaders. Through the WomEng pipeline, we have created GirlEng, which attracts high potential math and science students, nurtures and mentors them to enter the study of engineering. The WomEng Fellowship is an annual technical innovation challenge for the best and brightest female engineering students to find solutions to global challenges and develop and prepare for industry. Finally, @ Network has created a platform for both male and female engineers to not only network but also engage in pertinent topics affecting the engineering industry, as well as looking for new opportunities. Mentorship is the golden thread that ties all our programmes together and is a pivotal component in every programme currently run at WomEng.
WomEng is looking to recruit 4 interns to be based in the Cape Town office. The internships are unpaid positions with a 12-month commitment. Ideal interns would be working on the following activities:
- Graphic design
- Research and Content development
- Event co-ordination
- Social Media & Marketing
We are looking for passionate individuals that are interested in gaining work experience, learning and being mentored from the top thought leaders in Africa while contributing to the development of girls and women in the engineering sector.
To apply, email us your CV and a 1page motivation letter. You can send the email to firstname.lastname@example.org with ‘Intern’ in the subject line. Applications have to reach us no later than the 30th January 2015.
